Recording of Talk by Dr Naira Mkrtchyan, Armenia March 17, 2024
Sunday, 17 March · 3:00 – 4:00pm
ABOUT THE TOPIC
Since ancient times, great importance has been attached to dreams, attributing to them a divine origin. They both attracted and frightened people who called dreams “little death”, believing that through it they could get into that mysterious world of the afterlife.
For centuries, dreams have helped people make decisions and provided valuable advice. In the ancient world, kings, based on dreams, built their foreign and domestic policies, held wedding and coronation ceremonies, constructed cities, palaces, temples, etc. Most of the doctors of the ancient world (in Egypt, Greece, Armenia) treated the sick according to their dreams. For this purpose there were special temples dedicated to sleep and dream deities.
Even 3000 years ago, the authors of the Hindu sacred texts – the Upanishads – described dreams as a higher state of mind than the waking state.
The language of dreams are symbols and colours. During the course the audience will learn meanings of colours, numbers, some common symbols such as holy images, love, sickness, death, etc.
We will also talk about inventions which were made in dreams as well as important historical dreams of kings, army commanders, etc.
“Dreams are the language of God. When he speaks in our language, I can interpret what he has said. But if he speaks in the language of the soul, it is only you who can understand.” – Paulo Coelho
