Brigadier C Sandeepkumar, Vishist Seva Medal, was commissioned into the Maratha Light Infantry in 1980. As an Infantry Officer he has rich experience in Counter Insurgency/Anti Militant operations in the North East, Punjab, Sri Lanka and the Kashmir Valley at both Command and Staff appointments. The officer also had a tenure with the Ladakh Scouts in the Siachen Valley, DBO and Depsang Area in mid 80s. He served with Rashtriya Rifles deployed in Manipur & Nagaland. He took part in OP VIJAY (1999-2000) and was injured while in command of an Infantry Battalion on the Line of Control. Later on, he commanded the 1 Maratha Light Infantry in the insurgency affected area of North East and was awarded Vishisht Seva Medal for his contribution to the success in operations against militants and anti national elements.
Brig Sandeepkumar has held several Instructional and Staff appointments. He has had an instructional tenure in Infantry School, Mhow. He has also been a Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade deployed in Kashmir Valley, and Colonel Q (Operations) of a Corps in the North East deployed along the Line of Actual Control with China in Arunachal Pradesh & Counter Insurgency Operations. After Command of an Infantry Brigade in Western Theatre bordering Pakistan was holding a key appointment as Chief Staff Officer (Logistics, Administration & Personnel), in the joint Services Command at Port Blair. Prior to retirement he was the Deputy Director General, National Cadet Corps Directorate (Kerala & Lakshadweep), Trivandrum.
Brig Sandeepkumar is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and College of Defence Management, Secundrabad. The officer had also attended a joint training capsule with UK Army organised under the aegis of Integrated Defence Staff in 2005. He has authored a guide for Young Officers joining the Armed Forces.
After retirement he is involved in social service in the Area of Greater Whitefield in Bangalore. He is General Secretary of Force GW a federation of Resident Welfare Associations in the above area. He is involved and providing support in Lake Rejuvenation, scientific Waste disposal initiatives, Education, Health care support to RWAs, organizing inter community sports events and infrastructure development.
