Col P Madhavan, an alumnus of Sainik School Bijapur and of 48 NDA Course (the third graduate Course), was commissioned in 4 RAJPUT in Jun 1976. He is a post graduate from DSSC Wellington in 1986-87 and a PGDCA during study leave in 2004-06. He has extensive Counter Insurgency and counter terrorist experience in Eastern Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sri Lanka and J& K. He served as the Grade 3 Intelligence Officer for 3 ½ years in Tirap, then an active counter insurgency area. He, as GSO2 (Ops), HQs 1 Sector RR, assisted in the raising of the Rashtriya Rifles in 1990. He has commanded 4 RAJPUT in a High Altitude Area in Sikkim and 23 RR in Thana Mandi/Ramban. He was the Colonel GS of a Strike Corps Division, Head of Training Team at the Officers Training Academy Chennai and the Dy Cdr and CI of the Assam Rifles Training Centre at Dimapur. Post final retirement he served as the General Manager of the Venky’s Chicken Feed Factory at Namakkal for a year and a half and for a year as GM Admin in the Gopalan National School at Bangalore.
He has published a historical fiction, Ninu - A Saga of the Valorous Wanchos, on Northeast India. He writes extensively on military matters. He is a founder member of the think tank, Indus International Research Centre.
He resides in Bangalore.
