Mr Sunil Pant retired from the State Bank of India (SBI) after more than 37 years of service in Dec 2013 as Chief General Manager, Financial Control, from SBI’s Corporate Centre. Prior to this he was Chief General Manager of Delhi Circle handling around 1500 branches with a business level exceeding USD 20 Bn. He was awarded Best Regional Manager (2001-02) by SBI and nominated to the Board of a Gramin Bank.
Sunil Pant, is currently an Independent Director on the Board of Ghazanfar Bank, Kabul and Suraj Estate Developers Ltd., Mumbai. He is a member of the Banking and Finance Committee of the Afghan American Chamber of Commerce. Apart from this, he is an Independent Director with 3 Companies of the Green Infra Group, India, a subsidiary of SembCorp, Singapore. He is an ex-CEO of the Indian Institute of Insolvency Professionals of ICAI (IIIPI) almost from its inception in 2017 till August, 2020 and was the 1st CEO of Cyber Security Integrators India Ltd. (CSIIPL), a start-up, in 2015.
As head of Overseas Expansion for SBI he acquired banks in Mauritius and Indonesia, established a Joint Venture Bank in Moscow, a subsidiary in Botswana and a banking alliance in GCC. He was the Credit Head for Sri Lanka and later served on the Boards of Nepal SBI Bank Ltd. and Bank of Bhutan. He established offices in China, Australia, UK, Singapore, Oman, Turkey, Maldives, DIFC (Dubai), Bangladesh, etc.
Mr Pant has been a guest speaker at various Management Institutes and Chambers of Commerce and participated in Phone-in broadcasts on AIR, TV Programs, Webcasts, etc. He has conducted Webinars on wide-ranging subjects ranging from Strategic Affairs to Banking, Insolvency & Bankruptcy and has also written for newspapers and magazines on related matters.
His Qualifications include MSc (Physics), BSc (Hons) Statistics, LLB (India) and CAIIB. He is a Member of the All India Management Association (AIMA) and is registered as an Independent Director with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India. He is also a Council Member with two Global Consultancy organizations and is enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi and is licenced to practice Indian Law.
Sunil has attended trainings at Harvard Business School (Business Strategy), Michigan University (Cycle of Leadership), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (Overseas Project Finance), Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad (Mergers & Acquisitions), Duke University CE (EDP), AsiaMoney (Islamic Banking), College of Agricultural Banking of RBI (Rural Development), etc.
