Ravindran joined Indian Navy in 1974. He was a Leading Seaman Radar Plotter from Navigation Department. Left Indian Navy in 1984. After discharge from Indian Navy he worked in Offshore ships and after clearing Ministry of Transport Examination joined Merchant Navy as third Officer with Orient Ship Management. Thereafter joined Dynacom Tankers Management, Greece and was working as Chief Officer since 2009 in Oil tankers. Last two years not sailing. Joined Rotary international in 2014 and in 2021 joined OISCA international. Also, member of National Safety Council, and Fire and Security Association of India. As a Rotarian involved in charity works, taking awareness classes on Fire and safety, Waste management and Disaster management.
